The Foundation currently supports 353 researchers and their 250 post-doctoral students, 554 graduate students, and 136 undergraduate students. Since 1954, the Foundation has underwritten $291 million in chemistry studies at 61 institutions, with the majority of funds going directly to research project. Approximately 1,200 scientists across Texas receive research grants each year. The Foundation also has a Visiting Lecture Series, a Summer Scholar Program, a Teacher Program, as well as Departmental grants designed to provide funding to enhance the chemistry departments at small and medium sized Texas institutions. The Welch Foundation supports the endowment of Welch Chairs for top chemists at Texas colleges and universities.
