1996 Science Teachers Association of Texas (STAT) Convention
R. M. Brown with his x-ray machine which went to the National
Science Fair in Los Angeles. Thanks to great help from chemists
at the nearby Celanese lab in Pampa (now Hoechst Celanese) Pampa Plant, Malcolm learned to blow glass
and fabricate an x-ray tube. He used an old neon sign transformer
for the high voltage source. It is a wonder that he did not over-irradiate
himself! This was a workable x-ray unit!
( ps. obviously the photo is not of me and my x-ray machine! I could not find this one, but thought you would like to
see an artistic approach to an image of a cell viewed in a very unusual way!)
