This is Caeserea- Philippi where Peter made his confession of faith to Jesus. This is also the headwaters of the River Jordan. A very beautiful and holy spot. In the background is a grotto which was part of a pagan city which was sacred to the god, Pan. Sacrifices made to Pan were dumped into the grotto, and if the bloody waters appeared below, this was taken as a bad sign.
