Photo Album of our Tour
to the Holyland
January 4-14, 1999
Photo 54
A magnificent view of Old Jerusalem from the summit of the Mt. of Olives
on an impeccably clear and beautiful day. This is the place where we had
our group photo made. This panorama photo was made from three separate,
hand-held shots through my little Olympus Stylus camera. Not shown
are the numerous peddlers and sellers of wares which inundated us! One
of Jerusalem's oldest and most famous cemeteries lies just below this point.
In fact, this is probably the oldest cemetery in the world, with graves
more than 4,000 years old along side of recent burials. At the base of
the Mt. of Olives is the Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus prayed just before
his arrest. After viewing this site, our group walked to the Garden of
Gethsemane ("the place of the press") and the Church of the Agony.
