Modern Calvary
For twenty years she was his loyal wife,
She bore his children, helped him build his life.

She kept on caring,
Though he her inner needs denied;
She kept on sharing,
Pretending he had never lied;
She kept on trusting,
When instinct warned he was not true;
She kept on giving,
And saw the day when they were through.

Two thousands years since Christ hung on the tree,
Yet selfless love still faces calvary.
