The Story
Hamilton Pool is situated about 25 miles west of Austin. It is a beautiful place and is now a Travis County Park. Way back there in 1960, my wife, Ann introduced me to this beautiful place. Then it was private property and we could go there free. Then I introduced this beautiful place to my major professor, Harold C. Bold who used it many yearts to show the world of algae and non-vascular plants to his students. So I have admired this place for nearly a half a century! It is still the beautiful place I remember. I encourage you to by all means visit Hamilton Pool if you come to Austin, Texas!
For more specific information on how to get there, click HERE. Admission is $5.00 per car and the gate closes at 6PM. I took my niece, Kara Brown on a hike to Hamilton Pool on February 24, 2001. It was one of those beautiful Texas early spring days! Upon entering the park, we learned that on Feb. 14, 2001, a giant chunck of limestone fell onto the trail. This is shown in ..2503. Enjoy this and the next three pages. I have intentionally reduced the size of the photos to accelerate download time. No photo is much over 150k. The digital panoramas were made with Quickstitch 360. Digital images were made with my Olympus C-2000z camera. Enjoy!
