The Story
Ashcroft was a rather large town during the height of the silver mining industry that was reaching its height before the US developed the gold standard. Then it went bust. Stuart Mace purchased this land and kept it pristine. It is a truly remarkable place. Imagine what it must have been like 300 years ago before the arrival of the white man. Today you can probably see and experience a land that is just that pristine, thanks to the Mace family and the Aspen Historical Society for keeping it that way. This drive of about 18 miles is a MUST for anyone who visits the Aspen area. I hope you will enjoy these photos. Remember, all photos are copyrighted.
