September 11, 2003
This day, two years ago, a terrible tragedy was brought
upon our Country.  We will never forget this. We
are strengthened by it, and each year, we seek to
resolve more than ever before, a world with peace and happiness
to prevail on humankind.

Toward that end, please engage yourself with eight pieces
composed in honor of this solemn day, so that we shall
never ever forget what happened to so many innocent people.

A note added: Today, September, 10, 2003, I lost a very good friend, Professor Moshe Benziman of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem who passed away due to a long illness. Moshe worked for nearly a year in my lab when I was at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is widely recognized for seminal contributions to the field of cellulose biosynthesis. He surely will be missed. My condolences are with his family today.
